MBC was the successful proponent to act as Construction Manager (CM) for the construction of the Kingston Co-op’s newest 3-storey affordable housing complex adding 38 new units with common amenity space, outdoor canopy, and pedestrian pathways to their provision of housing units.
Located on Princess St., neighbouring the existing co-operative community, with direct access to rapid transit routes and main street amenities within walking distance, this new housing complex is ideally situated to benefit the tenant base.
Surpassing the requirements of the CMHC Co-investment Fund, this completely wood-framed facility was designed to maximize energy efficiency targets by leveraging high performance windows, significant levels of wall and roof insulation and energy star appliances. In addition, over 20% of the units are fully accessible and the remaining units were designed to be retrofitted easily ensuring that the building will meet the demands of the future, sustainably.
