This project consists of the interior renovation to the clinical space at the Shepherds of Good Hope building located at 256 King Edward Ave for Ottawa Inner City Health – Consumption and Treatment Services. This project required our team to posses the required Infection Control certifications throughout the duration of construction. The scope of work included a complete demolition of the interior basement space, followed by a complete renovation fit-up for clients of Ottawa Inner City Health. This renovation included all new mechanical and electrical, plumbing, drywall, millwork and all interior finishes. The finished clinical spaces is used for clients who are being treated for substance addiction. The space is being operated by Ottawa Inner City Health, however, Shepherds of Good Hope own the building.
The shelter continued to operate as construction progressed. As a result, MBC implemented phasing to provide as little disruption to SGH and its clients as as possible. We completed the steel bracing and ceiling work on the 3rd floor for the new air handling unit with all access to the third floor coordinated directly with SGH. Any shut down work resulting from COVID-19 was scheduled with SGH. Shepherds then reviews the impact of the shut down with their program staff and advised MBC when the best time to complete the shutdown would be. MBC and SGH are worked collectively as a team to keep programs and services operational to their clients throughout the construction stages.
