With successful contracts completed in the chemical wing during the previous two phases, McDonald Brothers Construction was awarded a larger contract to convert another wing of this 4-storey building from an animal lab, into a cutting edge wet lab. The project was overseen and monitored by PWGSC for Health Canada. The third and fourth floors of the wing underwent transformation, in order to accommodate the latest technologically advanced laboratory space for Health Canada.
Extensive mechanical, electrical & plumbing works were performed under closed coordination between General Contractor, subcontractors, consultants & PWGSC while the scientists still occupied and worked on the main and second levels with no interruptions.
The penthouse was also fitted to accommodate the mechanical systems requirement for new labs. Two new generators were also installed to keep the lab running without power disruption.
